Lucas's socks are done, they're soaking right now after he wore them all evening and to bed last night. I cast on for Dillon's socks this morning, and am going to do both at once on a 32" circ. A 40" would be better, but I don't have one in the right size. D picked a Trekking yarn that Janessa sent me, and I'm biting my fingers worrying that I won't have enough. I went up 2 needle sizes, and adjusted my stitch counts, and they're going to be shortie socks, so fingers are crossed.
I'm planning my own first pair of socks now - I'm thinking Monkey from Knitty would be good. I picked up a skein of Jitterbug in Moss at my LYS, which I hope will look nice in this pattern. The semi-solidness is so purty. I won't make as many repeats on the leg, since I won't have a full 400yds of yarn to start with, and I don't wear really tall socks anywho. I think one of my online mom's groups is going to do a Monkey KAL, so I need to hurry up on Dillon's socks so I can (try to) have them done before I start on my own.
The new colors of Felici at KnitPicks are AWESOME! I'm drooling over almost all of them, especially Schooner and Patina, and can't wait to order some. I see many, many pairs of socks in my future. And speaking of KP, I need to hunt down a ball of their Essential sockyarn in the Fawn color - I have a single ball of Felici in Pebble, which I adore, and is now discontinued, so Fawn is going to be for the toes, heels, and probably the top ribbing. But of course, KP has now discontinued the Fawn color as well. Bah.
Suz, I finally got The Knitters Book of Yarn from the library! I'd been on the waiting list ever since you showed me your copy in January, and it came in this week for me. I'm really liking the Calla Lily Bag on pg225 - I'm even thinking of using her piece schematic to make something similar sewn from fabric. It's got such a cool shape to it. Lots of great stuff in this book though. I never realized how many knitting books my library had. I even got a series of 3 DVDs from Nenah Galati, on knitting socks on 2 circs. Right now I've probably got at least 30 knitting books checked out, and a few more on order. And a few crochet as well! I need to figure out how to get more hours in the day!
I re-felted my original Sophie bag, and it's sooooo tiny now, I wish I hadn't done that. The bigger Super Sophie is great though, and almost (finally) dry. I can't decide if I'm going to put a magnetic snap on the flap, or if I should find a neat button of some kind. We shall see.
Back to Dillon's socks!
