Today is the kids' last day of school before the Easter break - they get out early at 12:20, and have off until Tuesday. My oldest Dillon is 10 and in 5th grade, and has 2 classmates coming home from school with him today to play. My youngest Lucas is 6 in kindy, and one of his friends is coming over to play as well. They're both so incredibly excited about this, and I'm excited for them - it may seem like I'm crazy, to have 5 little boys running around here voluntarily, but they'll have a blast and entertain each other...which means I'll hopefully get some time to knit. Ah yes, the real reason comes out!
I got started on Decimal on Sunday, swatched and then cast on enjoying the spring-like weather on the back patio, while watching the kids play in the yard. Pattern calls for 4s, but I had to go up to 6s to get gauge, since I knit pretty tightly. I'm into the border pattern now, making the size 49" (I think?) from a gorgeous royal blue color that feels like cottony butter in my hands. I thought the rows of 1x1 ribbing were going to about kill me, but I made it through. Must learn to knit ribbing in Continental style! Maybe that would help to loosen up my gauge as well. Something to think about.
Ankle is feeling better, so much so that I've been walking almost everyday. The Autumn Rose hat is done and blocked and cute - I think I should have decreased more rapidly for the crown, but it's a nice bunchy sort of fit at the top, and I'll know that for next time. It will be heading to Tampa for my friend Autumn soon, unless I decide to just hand-deliver it when I (hopefully) go to visit her in June. The Sahara socks are both completed and very comfy, although the only pic I have of them is on my phone, with no clue how to get that to my computer. Once they're washed (of course I've worn them already!) I'll get FO pics, I'm sure.
Randomness:
Countdown to Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival is 24 days!!
The Orioles beat the Yankees 10-5 in our home opener game on Monday, and I'm sure it's because I was actually watching.
I'm thinking about knitting SK8r from MDK2 for Dillon...but have to do something about the sweater I already have for him otn first.
Off to get a few things done before the house is overrun with small boys!
