Ever since I learned to knit socks last winter (Feb/March 08), I've wanted to join the 52 Pair Plunge, and now I finally have! The third round of Plunge started this week and runs June 1 '09 to May 31 '10. My first plans are to finish the...uhh, too many incomplete pairs that are already on the needles. That's three for myself, and one for my younger son. I need to knit Holly a green pair, Autumn a pink 30th birthday pair (for her big day in October), Harry Potter house-colored stripes for my kids' Christmas gifts, and who knows what else. I tend to over-plan things, as evidenced by my grand schemes for last years' Summer of Socks, and then the plans just sort of die away when I lose interest because something shiny has happened by.I'm not laboring under the crazed delusion that I will somehow complete 52 pairs of socks in 52 weeks - oh no no no. I'd be happy with a pair (wearable by myself or another adult, or my kids) every 2 weeks. I've also wanted to make small socks/stockings for Christmas tree ornaments ever since I made the mini's (pic above) from my ex's sock leftovers (it's not just a sweater curse, girls, it extends to other knitted garments that take longer than a day or three to knit), and according to 52PPiii rules, those count too!
I'l be back with pictures soon, but for now I have the last few chapters of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows on CD, and several sock projects to keep me company until I decide I'm tired this evening.
Happy Socky Day!
