SOS#2, and other stuff

My second pair of socks for Summer Of Socks was finished yesterday, just under the wire for the second two-week contest deadline. They turned out SO pretty, IMO, and I really like them.

Pattern: Basic Sock Recipe, from Knitting Rules (Yarn Harlot), with my own tweaks.
Yarn: Colinette Jitterbug in Jay color, purchased at the Knitters Nest earlier this year.
Needles: 2.75mm metal DPNs (KnitPicks)
Size: for my feet, size 10.
Stitch pattern: No-purl, mini feather & fan.

I've frogged two other SOS socks in the last week or two - the Snow Angel Monkeys, and the Pink Saucy socks both got the boot - the Monkeys were coming out too small and way too loose in the stitches, and the Saucy socks were cabled, which I somehow managed to not see when I read the pattern. I don't care for cables on socks, so those have been ripped out, and I started something new with that yarn.

After pouring over all my stitch guides, I have a bunch of stitches picked out for future socks. I love having the SPM sock recipe all worked out to fit my feet perfectly, because it's making it so easy to plan for more socks, just putting in the stitch I want on the cuff and instep. It makes me feel quite brilliant.

Ok, back to my STR toe-up Monkeys. I'm almost to the heel on sock #1, and just past the toes on #2. My goal is to have this pair finished by Friday.
