Plans for 2012 UFO Crawl

Well it's that time again - almost the beginning of a new year, and as is my tradition, it's time to get my unfinished projects completed. I'm not one of those knitters who has to start the new year fresh with nothing on the needles, I prefer to do my finishing in the first few months of the year. In 2011 I somehow just forgot all about finishing UFOs, so I've got some projects that have been on hold for well over a year now. This time is my third year doing a UFO Crawl (2009, 2010, 2012), and I have 7 projects (unless I'm forgetting something, which is entirely possible!) to work on. I find it interesting that all of my unfinished projects are for myself, nothing here is for anyone else! There are at least two UFOs in my bins that will be frogged and aren't mentioned here, but it's better that way - they don't deserve the attention!

My oldest project is my Moderne Log Cabin Blanket. According to Ravelry, I started this blanket on 1-2-09, so it's well past time to get it moving again. It's knitted in Vanna's Choice yarns (not my fave yarn ever, but definitely one of the better choices for acrylics out there) in blues and purples; I initially bought two balls each of four colors, and my plan is to just make the sections random sizes, and keep going until the yarn is gone.

These socks are the closest to being finished, and I believe I'm on the foot of the second sock, knitting toe-up. I started the first sock in May 2011 so I'd have something easy to work on while wandering around at MSWF. The yarn is Miss Babs sock in the Portulaca colorway, which I bought at MSWF 2010. Simple toe-up, plain Jane pattern that lives in my knitting brain, as I love to just let the dye job make the splash.

I have another pair of socks that haven't had a picture taken yet - while on vacation at the beach in NC this past summer, my Mom and sister picked up a purple Conjoined Creations Flat Feet for me as a souvenir. I started some toe-up socks with it, and probably haven't even made it past the toe increases on the first one before it was put down for better things - like my new Scentsy business, I guess!

Mr. Greenjeans, in KP Swish, colorway Truffle. It's been on hold for a while because I lost interest in it (as is the norm around here), then joined WeightWatchers and lost 40 pounds, so now I don't know how it will fit. Will need to take some measurements and figure out what size I actually cast on - thank goodness for Ravelry!!

Hey Teach lace cardigan, knitted in one piece, that I started in May or June 2011, and then forgot about when we moved in July. It's knitted bottom up, and I'm done through to the bodice, which is where the lace pattern starts. I think it got abandoned because I had to convert the lace charts from knitting in pieces to all in one piece, and didn't have enough brain power to spare at the time.

I love these socks. If you don't know how much, let's just say that I've knitted one sock at least twice, only to discover that the cables were still too darned tight for my foot! It's Jitterbug yarn in Velvet Leaf...or maybe it's Velvet Forest, or Velvet Olive, I don't know, but it's SO PRETTY. The pattern is staggering cables, and it was designed by a knitter at my LYS, Donna Benson. I'd never actually taken a knitting class before, and signed up for her class just so I could get this pattern. It's been in the works since March 2010.

There's another cardigan sweater in the works, but for the life of me I cannot find any pictures of it except for the stashed yarn photo I have on Ravelry! It's a Shalom cardi in a steel gray color that I started in April 2010, knitted in bulky yarn. Last I recall, it's finished through the armholes and down past the bust, and just needs additional length added.
