Well, thirty inches of snow later, stuck in the house for 3+ days has really made a dent in my UFO finishing! The socks are done, the baby sweater is done! Dillon's sweater is on hold for now, as I completed about 3" of sleeves (started with 6-7" left to go, magic looping both sleeves at once) and then ran out of yarn. I'm going to see if I can venture out today to pick up a coordinating color to finish them, since we're supposed to get another foot of snow this afternoon!! The last project on the needles is a hat for me, which I picked up again last night after the sweater was done-for-now. I'm really enjoying the lace pattern - it's the Gwen Slouch Beret, and I'm knitting it from sock yarn in a gorgeous deep blue color. The lace is actually the same one that I used for my Seashore socks, it's called Vine Lace, and I found it in one of the BW Treasuries, #2 I think. Sock yarn on US9 needles is a fun and quick knit!
Here are Lucas's new socks - top-down, two-at-a-time striped socks in KnitPicks yarns. They were supposed to be for Dillon (11yr old son), but despite careful measuring, still came out too small for him, so they became Lucas' (7yr old son). I don't know what I'm doing wrong for Dillon's feet here - this is the third or fourth pair of socks I've made for him, and none of them still fit him. They never fit him for very long, even if they fit him straight off the needles, and it's not like his feet grow all that fast! All the socks I've knitted for the boys have been knit top-down, so maybe for the next pair, I will try going toe-up, especially for Dillon. And ribbing all the way up the instep would probably be a good idea as well. Sounds like a plan - but remind me to NEVER try to knit TAAT socks with three strands of yarn per sock ever again! That's some makings for craziness, and you wouldn't believe how many ends there were to be woven in when those socks were finished!
I've updated my Ten for '10 goals a bit, and should post them somewhere other than in the notes section on my Blackberry, so here they are. I first posted about them a week or two ago, even though I've been sort of plotting them since December.
Ten for '10 Projects - ten things I've wanted to make for a while but haven't ever gotten around to.
~Cardigan for me (B-Side, FLS, Emerald, Tahoe, Liesl, Summer's End, Mr. Greenjeans)
~Bedroom curtains (linen?)
~Big Granny square blanket - this is crochet, which is a skill I'll be brushing up on as well!
~Scarf for me - made of sock yarn, reversible pattern
~Socks for Dillon - made him several pairs, but the never seem to fit him
Ten for '10 Stash - Yarns in my stash that I love and need to stop hoarding for "the perfect thing".
~Lion fishermans wool, hand-dyed by me in a bunch of greens. Was supposed to be for a felted bag, but wonder if it's taking this plan too far by "double-dipping" and making the Fuzzy Feet from it!
~Socks That Rock - Watermelon Tourmaline
~Socks That Rock - Lemongrass
~Jitterbug - undecided, but use at least 2 of them up this year!
~KP Felici - knit myself more "vanilla" stripey socks
~Noro Silk Garden Lite - I have one skein of this gorgeous colorway that I grabbed on sale, might need to become a hat or cowl.
~Regia Silk - Socks for me
Ok, off to shower and change so I can hit the yarn shop and library before Blizzard 2010, Part Two arrives!

I have been digging through my personal yarn shop (AKA - my stash) and am really inspired, but I have been restraining myself to work on current projects. I have my UFO count down to 4 and the cobblestone for Davis is up to his armpits and I am starting the sleeves! Go snow-days! (although I think my trip to WV this weekend might be in jeopardy)
