And, it's over

I'm totally done with Summer of Socks now - pair #6 was done this week, and since I figured I couldn't knit another pair in like 8 days (my record is 13 days for a pair), I actually put down the sock needles and stepped back for a few days. On Thursday and Friday, I knitted a cute One-Skein shrug for my friend Amanda's daughter for her 7th birthday, and then started an Odessa hat on Friday evening. And now today I have another sock in the works, having wound up my STR in Lucy last night.

(Terrible picture of Lauren, but she's such a cutie, and it seemed like she really liked the shrug.)

I sold a bunch of cotton yarns, and the majority of my circular sock needles on Ravelry last week, and my reward for that destashing was an order from Blue Moon. Arriving yesterday were Chapman Springs, Nyame, and Watermelon Tourmaline in lightweight, all of which I'm in love with! A lot of people have been discussing the true color of Nyame, which is much lighter in person than the picture on their website, so you can see some close-ups on my Flickr, if you're interested.

Today was the birthday party for Lauren, Amanda's DD, which was fun - it's too bad the boys weren't in town, they would have had a blast with all the kids there. But I got to go and enjoy some yummy cake, and watch Lauren open her gifts. Any girl who squeals equally over Hello Kitty, and Pokemon stuff is my kind of girl! That may explain why I have so much fun with her Mom too. After the party, I met up with Sarah and a few other knitting girls at Panera for our biweekly gathering. We hung out for a while, then went over to The Nest to visit Deb, where Sarah picked up yarn to knit herself the same shrug. Sarah came home with me and we knitted on socks, watched a movie (Georgia Rule, it was...interesting) and had some really tasty salmon burgers and wild rice for dinner.

My boys called a bit ago to say goodnight; they're leaving North Carolina tomorrow morning, and will be home by dinnertime. I'm hoping that they're as good in the car on the way home, when all they'll have to look forward to is starting school a day later! But, they're coming home to a brand new bedroom with awesome custom-made loftbeds, so we'll see!

Happy weekend!

This is where Dillon and Lucas have spent the last seven days!!

i love that shrug (i think you and i made the same one) and i'm just finishing up my second one. the first one was supposed to be for my oldest, but i judged wrong, and it ended up fitting the baby! so i tried again with some yarn that i think A will like better, and it's coming out much better this time!

i did some minor mods: lengthened sleeves and body a bit for each.
