More socks, Ravelympics, and stuff

I finished two more socks this past week, though they don't exactly make a pair. A single Spring Forward in Jitterbug (Velvet Bilberry - gorgeous color, odd name), and a single Vanilla sock in KP Essential (Shale Multi) are now awaiting their partners. I've heard some negative talk about Jitterbug, but I simply love this yarn. I don't knit tall socks (hate the idea of doing calf shaping!) so I'm not terribly worried about the "short" yardage (320, according to Ravelry). In fact, the last pair I made from Jitterbug had a good 15g left once the socks were completed. I guess if you knit tightly and like knee socks, it could be an issue. Oh, and I wear size US10 shoes, so it's not like I've got small feet (ahem, *Steph*) - those are size large blockers in my pics.

I really love how the Essential Multi patterned out on this sock - my fingers are crossed tightly that the second sock will do the same! I'm a sucker for great striping yarns, and it's awesome how my gauge magically made these. :) And after going to the KP website for that link, I see a few more multis that I like - can't wait for Turtle to come back into stock!

After finishing these two socks on Thursday, I literally went about 24 hours with absolutely NO socks on my needles. Really - look at that picture, they're all in the package. Of course, that didn't last long, as I started out making Pomatomus for Ravelympics late on Friday night. Got it cast on and a single round knit before passing out. Then yesterday I finished the funky ribbing (have I mentioned that I dislike 1x1 ribbing?) and promptly decided, upon starting the actual charted pattern, that it was going to be a complete PITA, and tinked back to the ribbing and began a feather/fan pattern instead. Oh well. I'm using a really pretty color of Jitterbug (I think I'm in love with this yarn, hope KN gets more in stock soon!) called Whirley Fig, but which reminds me of STR's Rose Quartz. And when I have to choose between paying for outrageous postage versus buying something similar and awesome in it's own rite at my LYS, guess what I'm going to pick? Yep, and hence my love affair with Jitterbug. I even like its name, lol!

And lastly before I herd my shrieking boys indoors and into the shower, a few pictures I took some months ago - this is my dining room, where I take a lot of my project and stash pictures. The newly-refinished wood floors and great lighting from the slider makes a nice backdrop, and it's only a few feet away from where my laptop resides on the table.

The view out the back door - this was taken sometime in March; yeah, we're a bit late with the holiday decorations. These came down just in time to put up Easter stuff. It's so nice looking out there now though, I'll have to get some pics of how it currently looks to post here.
