SOS - Days 1-2

Well, despite my good intentions, I started off Summer of Socks with a snore, rather than a bang. I had everything ready to begin at midnight, but fell asleep before 11pm. I made up for it by waking at 8ish and casting on three socks - Monkey, Saucy, and a plain ribbed sock.

Monkey: I've done 3 repeats on the toe-up Monkey on DPNs, but after trying it on, I don't think it's going to fit right, so I need to decide if I'm going to rip it all out and start over with larger needles, or just rip back to the end of the short-row toe and keep widening it a little to make something else. I'm also not sure I like how the colors are pooling into the stitch pattern, so that might just have to go.

Pattern: Los Monos Locos (Toe-up, no-purl Monkeys)

Yarn: KnitPicks Bare, hand-dyed in Snow Angel colorway.

Saucy socks: I've gotten 2 repeats of the pattern done on the first of the Saucy socks, and haven't touched them since Saturday. I really like how they're turning out, but the Next pair has been sucking up all my time.

Pattern: Saucy socks

Yarn: Fibranatura Yummy in Gypsy Rose colorway.

Ribbed socks: Just a plain ribbed sock, but it's flying right along. I did about 4" of cuff, short row heel, and am halfway through the foot. I should have the first one finished today...I hope!

Pattern: Based on SPMs basic sock recipe from Knitting Rules, although I used a short row heel.

Yarn:
Lion Magic Stripes in Purple pattern color.

I have to say, as much as I've liked knitting socks on DPNs, I think I need to start doing two-at-once on circs for Summer of Socks. Now that I'm more experienced with socks (I think I'm up to 10 pairs now) I'm hoping it will be easier than it was at first. Last night I wound a hank of STR in Brick, and once I get it evenly divided, I'm going to give the Monkey pattern a try with it.

Ok, that's all for now. I have a job interview this afternoon, laundry to get done, an oil change scheduled for my car, and a meeting at 5pm. I won't have much knitting time today, but I'm planning to get back to it this evening once the kids are in bed.
