Current UFOs

After spending all that time yesterday going through my stash, I've realized that my UFO pile is far too big. So in honor of "starting fresh for the new year", before I frog a few pieces, and stuff a few more back into hibernation, here's a list.

This is likely the oldest UFO I have -a MDK baby kimono in CottonEase, started over the summer for a friend's baby, who has likely been born very recently. As you can see, I ran out of yarn and had to get another ball...after being reassured by two other Ravelers that they not only knit this from CE yarn, but that it took them just one ball to complete it. Umm, something's wrong here. Who the heck knows what, but I gave it up for a while. I'd really like my Addi 6s back, so maybe it's about time to get this one completed.

Calorimetry #4, numbers one through three having been completed long ago. It would seem that three is my limit when there is 2x2 ribbing involved. And as much as I love the look of this wool, it's a bit rough on my hands, so I can't imagine wanting to wear it over my ears. So sad, this will be frogged, and my Options replaced in my needle bag.

Mittens!! I'm having a one-sided love affair with mittens - I love them, they don't feel the same way about me. I bought this magazine just for the mittens pattern - it promised easy mittens in several gauges for men, women and children's sizes. Cast on with my new (at the time) KP dpns and some Ella Rae Amity, and stalled just at the thumb gusset. While they're cute (yeesh my arm looks hairy there), and the yarn is nice for all-acrylic, it has occurred to me that they don't match any coat or jacket that I own. Yes, this is actually important to me. So they'll be frogged as well. Maybe I'll restart with another color sometime, but that remains to be seen.

This started out being a sweater for a beer bottle. Yep, you read that right - my coworker saw one that she thought was neat, and we both set out to make our own, making up the pattern as we went along too. This is as far as I got on mine, although she finished and felted hers. Mine's KP Swish (superwash worsted wool), so no felting here. This ball was one lonely yarn that I ordered to see if I'd like knitting with it, and mission accomplished. Project to be frogged, though.

I have no idea what this was supposed to be. 16" size 8 Addis, Patons Merino, something or other in garter stitch. On it's way to Frogdom also. Once that's done, I'm sure I'll remember what it was.

Not technically a UFO, but something I've been working on for a while - a skein of King Tut cotton yarn that I for some reason thought I could ball-wind without a swift. Ugh. I found both ends of it, and it's slow going from there. It's been sitting in its ziploc bag for so long that I'm not even sure what I had planned for it.

A Christmas ornament dishcloth that I started about a month ago - unsure if I should just finish it and toss it in the Christmas boxes before they get tucked back under the steps, or frog it and be done. Red S&C cotton, and size 8 or 9 Addis.

A DW dishcloth in Bernat Holiday Prints cotton yarn, with seed stitch borders. Started this one on Christmas Day after my previous cloth was done and I still have yarn left (I have a 12oz ball of this stuff, whoa). Mere rows left to finish, and I'm thinking I can get it done today. Really, I could, but I probably won't.

The Helmet Liner, unchanged since you last saw it here - the ribbing is done, and it's time to start the head-part.

While my own personal definition of "UFO" involves the word abandoned (i.e. UFAO), this is an unfinished object, and should be shown in this post. This is the scarf that was 240-stitches length-wise, that I frogged over the weekend, and restarted yesterday in 4x4 ribbing. Obviously I haven't gotten very far, but I'm liking it. The yarn is a Universal striping (Long Print), wool blend in pinks, to go with my new brown quilted jacket.

More importantly, this blog post serves to answer my most common knitting problem...

Where the heck are all of my needles??

LOL about all the missing needles.

I'm loving the pink scarf, the yarn is working up really well.

I really don't feel very badly about all of my UFO's now. Thanks! ;)

When I knit the helmet liner recently, I used a crocheted provisional cast-on for the cast-on for the face. It made it super easy to have a nice stretchy edge around the face when you go to do the ribbing later.
