It's a bird, it's a plane....

No, it's a pink striped scarf! Or more accurately, it's almost half of a pink striped scarf. I've been working faithfully on it since I started it on Sunday, and I'm loving how the striping is going. It's 24 inches long right now, and I'm aiming for 60", assuming the yarn lasts that long.

I forgot one UFO when I made my list the other day - a hat for Dillon (9) from Lorna's Laces something or other. This yarn was gifted to me by a sewingmama friend in 2006 when I first started knitting. It came without a ballband, but I believe it's LL Shepherd Bulky in Flames. I knitted it into a scarf for Dillon last winter, and he proclaimed it to be itchy, so I frogged and rewound it into a ball, and it's been sitting. He asked for a hat a while ago (think mid-November), so I started on this. I totally should have used a larger needle, and am very tempted to frog it and try something other than my usual roll-brim stockinette hat.

And lastly for today, a little Sweater Ornament that I made right after Christmas. The picture in my picture is of a mini-handknitted sweater ornament I found on my Grandma's tree this year - I'd never seen it before, but she said she made it years ago. It has a yarn loop hanger, a little pompom hanging off of it, and blue toothpicks in it to look like knitting needles. I had my Dad take pics of it so I could recreate my own version, and here it is. It's Lion Wool on size 4 needles (I'd use 6 next time though), knit all in one piece and then seamed under the arms and down the sides. There are many patterns online for this type of thing, but I just made it up, going off my Grandma's version. I did hang it on the tree for a week, but had to grab it back so it wouldn't get packed away - I want to knit more of them for next year!

Lovely scarf! I like the bright colors in the hat, too!
