Dyeing to knit

Some dyed yarn, one of these might be for Aisling, though I haven't yet decided which one, lol! The two on the left are both dyed with the same color combo, but the far left one started as a white yarn, and the next one started as grey. Cool variations! The blue one started grey also, and the one on the right was supposed to be reddish-lime-orange, but got muddied in the dye pot, so I just overdyed the whole thing with strawberry. It's pretty neat! I'm having a hard time coming up with good one-skein projects to use all this dyed yarn for though. I should probably check out the One Skein books from my library again. All I can think of right now is mittens, and felted bowls. And I'm thinking I need to try to dye some yarn purple, so I can make myself mittens to match my coat. Purple is hard to do with KA though, so we shall see.

Here's my helmet liner in progress, in Ella Rae Classic Wool, color #110. This color is just stunning, and I'm hoping by saying that it doesn't make it less appropriate to be sent overseas to some deserving military..uhh, soldier? Yeah. Anyway. The boys have each asked for their own, although Lucas says he'd like the helmet and fatigues to go along with it too. Yeah, I'll get right on that, honey. Despite my complaints about how slowly the eleventy-six miles (or is it inches?) of ribbing are going, I've gotten almost 8 inches of it done with an injured finger and about 4 hours of total knit time. The pattern calls for 6 inches, but I think it looks a little too short on his chin/neck in that picture, so I'm going to rib to 8 or so inches, and then work to the face. Dillon and I stopped at KN after school today to get yarn for his and Lucas's helmet liners. D picked a grey for his, and royal blue for L's, and I veto'd the blue in favor of a nice dark charcoal that will match Luke's coat. Mama's all about the matching lately.

I forgot to mention that I knit a cute little ornament sweater last weekend. On Christmas Day, I found a knitted sweater ornament on my Grandma's tree that she had apparently knit years before, and I'd never noticed before. My Dad took some pictures of it for me, and worked from the pics to make my own. I need to get a pic of it before it gets packed away with the tree and paraphenalia this weekend. I'd really like to felt it also, to see how small it will come out. My LYSO has a cute felted sweater on her keychain that I've been coveting for months - here's my chance to make my own!

Me again...

I think all of your dyed yarns look cool. I like the difference between the white yarn/gray yarns. The over dyed one is my favorite.

Things to knit: fetching? some kind of headband? Striped hats with more than one of the colors? Those bright colors might make some fun baby items?? Tea Cozy? LOL.

Ok, i'll quite rambling now. ;)
