What an incredible Saturday! The weather could not have been more perfect for spending hours upon hours walking around the fairgrounds. Sarah and I picked up Amanda just before 8, and got to the fairgrounds and were through the gates by 8:45. We're pretty lucky to live just 15 minutes away - all that extra time was us getting ready at the car in the "parking field" (a lot, it's not!). We ran into Mia, another friend from our local knitting group, and all headed to The Fold to check out Socks That Rock. Took turns holding a spot in the "checkout line" while the others dove into the booth to hopefully find what we were looking for. It was crowded, but not too bad, and certainly not as wild as it was just an hour or two later when we walked past. We all put a nice dent in their stock (not to mention our budgets) and were done by 8:45. Headed to the Cloverhill booth next to drool over all the awesome indie dyers they were showcasing. I completely fell in love with just about everything in their booth, but managed to walk away with just 4 gorgeous skeins. After that we just sort of wandered - Sarah got some great Celtic music, Amanda battled the crowds to get into Tilli Thomas, Mia found yummy chocolate soaps, and I lucked out finding a back issue of IK, and the IK Felts issue as well. I bought my first spindle and a bit of lovely roving, and as I type the Knitting Daily's guide to spinning for beginners is printing for my future reading.

Trekked back to the car to lighten the shopping load, then grabbed some lunch. It does seem odd eating lamb at the sheep festival, but perfectly appropriate. Mia's friend had arrived by then, so she split off with her, and Amanda, Sarah and I wait in a long line for lamb gyros. They were delicious though, and well worth the time. We did attempt to get to the Ravelry meetup, but the building was packed and crazy, so we sort of cruised through and went on our way.
Here's a picture of what followed me home - all yummy stuff that I'm thrilled about. I have to run, but will post more later.
